This summer (June 29, 2016), Prof. Steve Martinson presented an invited lecture in the Leipziger Literaturwissenschaftliches Colloquium on "'Schlingen und Netze für unvorsichtige Vögel': Der junge Friedrich Nietzsche." It was attended by approximately forty people from the city of Leipzig, university professors and students, including UA's own, the UL Prorektor for Research, and several members of the UA-Leipzig Joint Doctoral Program in Transcultural German Studies. The lecture focused on lesser and, until now, unknown aspects of young Nietzsche's works, including his poetry, prose, sketches, boardgames, and music. Analyses of Nietzsche's unpublished and published essays in philology as a graduate student at the University of Leipzig and short self-fashioned philosophical essays are also included in Martinson's current book in progress, Discordant Concord: The Young Friedrich Nietzsche. Word, Image, Music (completion date: November/December, 2016).
