The Department of German Studies is delighted to welcome our newest Faculty member, Prof. Joela Jacobs, who joined the University of Arizona this fall (from the University of Chicago) as Assistant Professor. Her scholarly research focuses on topics in Animal Studies, Environmental Humanities, and German Jewish literature. She is is teaching courses about 19th and 20th-century German literature this semester and will offer a new General Education course in Spring 2016 called "From Animation to Zombies: The Ethics, (Bio)Politics and Aesthetics of Defining Life". Outside the classroom, she is enjoying the abundant Arizona sun and exploring Tucson's cuisine. Please join us in welcoming her to the department!
