Conferences & Events

The Department of German Studies conferences, colloquia, and other events span a wide variety of topics and issues. The department is an active participant and organizer in a variety of events. Over the last years a variety of events has formed within the department and are held regularly: German Stammtisch, German Studies Colloquia, The Medieval and Early-Modern Studies Symposium, the annual fall and spring fest, the Deutscher Studenten Club Lecture Series, Delta Phi Alpha and various other. In addition, the department actively participates in campus wide events.

Currently, we are happy to announce this year’s 8th Symposium: 2010: Crime and Punishment on the fundamentals of medieval and early modern culture with participants from all over the world.

Our very own German Studies Colloquia provides a comfortable environment for current research by our own faculty, graduate students or invited guest speakers. Please see the category "Colloquia" for additional information.

Our interdisciplinary faculty gives talks in the areas of Second Language Acquisition and Teaching, Psycholinguistics and various other cross-departmental events. The department also successfully hosted the first International Conference on Transcultural German Studies in 2007.
