Kerry chose to learn German in high school because her brother assured her it was the coolest language offered, and German has been a huge part of her life since the very first day of first-year German class. In 2005 she was awarded a full scholarship by the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange program to spend a year attending high school in Bramsche, Niedersachsen. She completed her B.A. at the University of Oregon with a double major in German Studies and Romance Languages (French/Italian). Kerry spent her junior year at the Université de Fribourg in Switzerland, where she improved her French and learned to understand Swiss German dialects. She spent last year working as a teaching assistant for English classes in Innsbruck, Austria, through the Austrian-American Educational (Fulbright) Commission. She plans to become a high school German teacher, in the hopes that German will remain the coolest foreign language in school.
