I graduated in May 2008 with a BA in German studies with Art Thematic Minor from the UA. When I started my MA in August 2008, I discovered with my research paper that Goethe’s Faust I had influenced and penetrated South Korean pop culture and congealed into a new product. This fusion of two very different cultures into one new kind of literature captivated my interest and prompted me to dive into a body of research that has been with me from Fall 2008 through my Master’s thesis. My research will not be limited to German literature’s influence on Asian literature and pop culture as I am planning to explore German literature and music’s influence on anime and graphic novels. It is my goal and my passion to research this new, relatively unexplored area of literature, and also to share my rapture and the results of my findings by teaching and becoming a professor in German studies.
