Amalie received her Bachelor of Arts in German Studies in 2014 and spent time in Germany teaching English language and culture as a recipient of a Fulbright grant. She is currently a Masters student of German Studies with an emphasis on culture and pedagogy at the University of Arizona. She teaches courses in the Basic Language Program, and has also taught an intensive German language and culture course in Konstanz for the Arizona in Konstanz Program. Amalie's research interests include the use of authentic cultural media and texts to promote foreign language learning, successful intercultural communication, and critical thinking skills. She is also interested in high school foreign language curriculum design and the role of fantasy literature as a bridge between English-speaking and German-speaking cultures.
