Caroline Byrd was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. During high school they participated in their school’s month-long exchange program with the Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium in Hamburg, Germany which solidified their love for the German language and culture. 

Caroline attended Missouri State University and graduated with honors in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Modern Language and a minor in Linguistics. During their time at Missouri State, they spent a semester abroad studying at the Philipps Universität in Marburg.

Caroline's main academic interests include applied linguistics and second language acquisition and they look forward to continuing their study of these subjects at U of A.
