Martina is a PhD candiate in the interdisciplinary doctoral program Transcultural German Studies with an interdisciplinary minor in Turkish Studies. She received her Bachelor of Arts in German Language and Literature with an emphasis on Theater and Media and a minor in Social Peadagogy from the University of Hamburg in Germany and her Master of Arts in German Studies with an emphasis on German Literature and Culture from the University of Arizona. After graduating, Martina went back to Hamburg for a year, where she did graduate work at the University of Hamburg as a Master student of Intercultural Literature and Media Studies and Turkish Studies.
Her research interest focuses mainly on German-Turkish literature, as well as intercultural literatur, translation, exile and migration literature, and literature of refuge, particularly in the context of Germany and Middle Eastern countries.
In her dissertation project, Martina develops the concept of a History of Touch on the basis of German-Turkish literature.
