When Ajla Mujezinović participated in our summer study abroad program in Leipzig, Germany, a few years ago, she met Susanne Elze, and they became fast friends. After Ajla's return to the US, the two of them developed a lasting friendship across the Atlantic.

Ajla and Susanne first met when they were paired as tandem partners in the context of our Leipzig program. They have kept in touch over the years with video chats every few months. Ajla has since graduated from UA and moved to Alexandria, VA, where Susanne recently came to visit. Together, they traveled the US: from Boston, Salem, and Connecticut to New York City and DC. The visit has also given Ajla a chance to explore her new hometown like a tourist. While Alexandria may not be like Tucson and the Sonoran Desert, it reminds her a little of Europe with its rain and greenery.

Alja is now working as a Pharmacist in Charge for the US Air Force. Back in Leipzig, she was matched with Susanne because of their shared interest in healthcare profession. Susanne now works as an executive assistant to the board of a hospital in Offenburg, Germany.
