Please join us for this colloquium presentation, which will discuss the development of Erika Mann's literary-political cabaret Die Pfeffermühle from its first performance in the Bonboniere in Munich on January 1, 1933 until its demise in New York early in 1937. The main emphasis will be on the initial success of this cabaret after its flight from Germany to Switzerland, as well as the political difficulties it faced after re-opening in Zürich in October 1933. Some of the texts by Erika and Klaus Mann and Walter Mehring will also be presented and discussed.
