Critical Multilingualism: A University of Arizona Faculty Roundtable

When
noon to 1:30 p.m., April 4, 2012

From April 13-15, 2012, the University of Arizona Critical Multilingualism Studies Initiative will be hosting Mutlilingualism 2.0?: an International Symposium sponsored by the Department of German Studies. This Symposium is designed to bring working scholars, teachers, and practitioners together to take stock of our collective paradigmatic advancements over the past two decades in the domains multilingualism, monolingualism, plurilingualism, translingual practice, and the like.

As a part, and in anticipation, of this international event, this UA faculty roundtable brings together faculty from both the Humanities and Social and Behavioral Sciences to discuss the idea of multilingualism and the ways in which it informs their research and scholarly practice. This roundtable showcases University of Arizona faculty as they discuss the many theoretical/methodological aspects of their own work on multilingualism. The goal is to contribute to the circulation of ideas on multilingualism that will take place during the symposium itself, and which may then lead to the creation of working clusters of UA faculty with interests in critical multilingualism studies.
