The true story of Gerhard Gundermann, a struggling musician raised in East Germany who spent time as a coal miner and an informant for the state before the fall of the Berlin Wall. It won the Golden Lola award for Best Film at the 69th German Film Awards and four other awards for best director, best screenplay, best costumes and Best Production Design. The film depicts the life of East German singer-songwriter Gerhard Gundermann and the biopic focuses on the singer’s struggles with music, his job as an excavator operator and his dealings with the secret police of the German Democratic Republic. 128min.
