Our semiannual German Short Film Festival is taking place again at the end of the semester. The festival gives students in the German Basic Language program a platform to present their creativity, language advancements and cultural knowledge, which is demonstrated in the fairy tale movies category. Teachers assign video projects to the students as a way for them to practice writing and speaking in German, but also to learn to work on collaborative projects.
During the festival students and faculty socialize and share refreshments, watch the films and vote for their favorite candidates. The winning videos’ group members receive prizes— this semester we have gifts cards from the Student Union among other prizes. Over 40 students participate in the festival each semester, hoping they will win first prize.
Come out on Wednesday, May 2nd to find out who produced the winning movies. The festival will take place in ILC 125 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Refreshments and snacks will be provided through a generous Student-Faculty Interaction grant.

This year's film festival is organized by Sabine Köhler-Curry and Ashli Lovitt, two graduate teaching assistants in the German Studies Department, who worked with their GER202 students on producing short films.
