We invite you to attend the 19th annual SLAT Interdisciplinary Roundtable on Friday, February 7th (2:00pm-8:45pm) and Saturday, February 8th (9:00am-5:30pm) at the University of Arizona. This year's theme is "Crossing Disciplinary Boundaries: From Linguistic Structures to Critically Engaged Practices."
We are thrilled to welcome SLAT alumna Dr. Kimberly Geeslin (Professor of Spanish & Portuguese at Indiana University Bloomington) as plenary speaker. Her talk is entitled "Linguistics across disciplines: Sociolinguistics from second language contexts to informed faculty decisions" and will be given Friday, February 7th from 5:30-6:30pm (Room TBD). This talk will be followed by a reception at 1702 Pizza, within walking distance from campus.
We are also honored to host Dr. Ryuko Kubota (Professor of Language & Literacy Education at the University of British Columbia) as keynote speaker of Saturday, February 8th from 12:00-1:00pm (Room TBD). Her talk is entitled "Critical engagement in epistemological racism, southern theory, and scholarly ethics."
