Crafting a Compelling Scholarly Argument

A scholarly argument is more than a strong opinion with citations. This workshop digs into what actually makes an argument work: a claim that's contestable but defensible, evidence that does real analytical labor, and reasoning that anticipates objections rather than avoiding them. We'll look at the difference between summarizing a debate and intervening in one—and how to identify your own intervention before you start writing anything. This event is intended for graduate students at all levels.
