Call for members of the Delta Phi Alpha German Honor Society

The Delta Phi Alpha German Honor Society brings together outstanding students of German Studies and offers study abroad scholarships to its members.

To qualify for membership, you must have:

• a minimum of two years of college or university German or their equivalent
• a minimum average of B+ or its equivalent in German courses
• a minimum cumulative average of B- or its equivalent
• continued interest in the study of German language and culture

To become a member, submit the following by March 2, 2020 to Dr. Classen at aclassen@email.arizona.edu: 

• a short narrative of ca. 200 words in German why you study German and what membership in Delta Phi Alpha would mean for you
• an unofficial transcript confirming that you meet the qualifications
• a check for $25 (lifetime membership fee) that goes to the national organization (for an additional $10 fee you can acquire and honor cord for graduation)

Each new member receives an embossed membership certificate and a copy of the Delta Phi Alpha Bulletin. The induction ceremony, planned for Wednesday, March 18, at 4pm in the LSB Courtyard with UA German Studies faculty (pictured is the Delta Phi Alpha Ceremony 2017) has been canceled due to COVID-19 precautions.
