On Sept. 26-29 2024, the German Studies Association (GSA) hosted its forty-eighth annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Multiple faculty members and graduate students from the Department of German Studies attended and were even represented through publications on display at the GSA. In this picture, for example, there are two books featuring our faculty members: Dr. Thomas Fuhr and Dr. Albrecht Classen.

On the right side of the display is the 2024 book “Juli Zeh: A Critical Companion”, which delves deeper into the works of the bestselling and controversial author. In this book, Dr. Fuhr shares his expertise by contributing a chapter titled “A People’s Intellectual: Juli Zeh and the Heimat Movement”.

With Dr. Classen’s 2023 book publication, "Globalism in the Middle Ages and the Early Modern Age" (on the left side of the display), pre-modern studies establish that globalism existed already in the Middle Ages and the early modern age. Prof. Classen has edited this hefty tome based on a conference held at the University of Arizona in April 2022.
