March 2026 Conference Participants

Our graduate students have been active on the conference circuit this spring, presenting their innovative research spanning digital media, modern fiction and children’s literature.

Harriet Olulo traveled to Pittsburgh for the 57th Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA) Convention. Her presentation, "The Identity (Re)construction of Transnationals through Digital Media," explored the complex ways identity is constructed in our increasingly digital world.

Julius Carstens presented at the UA Graduate Literature Conference, delivering a talk titled "Automobility as a Symptom of System Failure in Sibylle Berg’s Dystopian Novels," which offered a critical look at technology and social collapse in modern fiction.

Lara Münter participated in the UA GPSC Graduate Showcase and gave a poster presentation titled "Impulsive, Ignored, Invisible: Accuracy and Representation of ADHD in Girls in Contemporary Children’s Literature." Her work highlights critical gaps in inclusivity within children’s literature.

Congratulations on your conference presentations and special thanks to Dr. Albrecht Classen for serving as a volunteer judge at the UA Graduate Showcase!
