1968 has been described as the year that the world caught fire. Heated protests against the war in Vietnam. The politicization of the personal through the European and American social movements. The climax of Cold War tensions witnessed in the brutal end of the Prague Spring. This honors course explores concurrent and contemporary representations of the 1960s and 1970s social movements. Although the central focus of this course will be on West and East Germany during these decades, we will continually draw connections to protests in other places and times. Particular attention will be given to the ways in which writing can function as a form of political action.

This GER 276 Honors course will be offered in the Fall 2012, Tue/Thu from 3:30-4:45pm by Prof. Chantelle Warner. For more information, contact Prof. Chantelle Warner at warnerc@email.arizona.edu.
