Participating in recent academic discussions on race in the middle ages, Prof. Classen published an article on “Blacks in the Middle Ages – What About Racism in the Past? Literary and Art-Historical Reflections” in Current Research Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities 6.1 (2023).

Prof. Classen recently published an open access article on “A New Focus on Cityscapes in Late Medieval German Literature: Rudolf von Ems and Heinrich Kaufringer” in The Medieval History Journal 26.1.

Dr. Albrecht Classen published an essay on “Frieden – oder Frieden, Feude, Eierkuchen?” in Damals wie Heute: Eine Friedensanthologie. PEN Zentrum deutschsprachiger Autoren im Ausland, edited by Gino Leineweber and Emina Čabaravdić-Kamber. Edition Exil-Pen with the publishing house Expeditionen 2023, pp. 17-31. His essay “Verkehrswunder” came out with the current issue of TRANS-LIT2 XXIX.1 (2023), pp. 54-57. This very same issue also features his poems "Aus Kairo," namely "Staub" (pp. 16-17), "Hoffnungsschimmer" (p. 17), "Verkehr" (pp. 17-18), and "Wohnhaus, Kairoer Innenstadt" (p. 18).

Prof. Classen also won a honorary mention with one of his haikus by the Haiku Expo: Arizona Matsuri (cf. p. 17).
