Prof. Peter Ecke received an award from the University of Arizona Foundation, Board of Trustees Small Grant Committee for University Strategic Priority - Pillar Four: Arizona Global – Setting the Standard for a Global University in the Digital Age.
The grant will fund Dr. Ecke’s project “Improvement and Assessment of ‘Becoming Transcultural: Maximizing Study Abroad’ – A General Education Course to Strengthen Arizona Global”. In this project, conducted this summer, Prof. Ecke will perform a needs analysis, redesign and update the course, develop a video lecture series and longitudinal assessments including a post-course questionnaire to evaluate the course’s long-term impact on students.
Prof. Ecke teaches “Becoming Transcultural” in the fall semesters, pre-summer and winter sessions. The course is designed to increase participants’ sensitivity towards other cultures and to help them prepare for study, work or travel in a different cultural environment both abroad and in the U.S.A.
