Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Richmond!
We are very happy to share the news that Richmond Embeywa successfully defended his dissertation on "Ideologies of Learner Subjectivity in the German Integration Course." Soon he will be Dr. Embeywa - herzlichen Glückwunsch! Richmond defended on April 19 in front of many faculty members, fellow grad students, family and friends - taking part in person as well as on Zoom, listening and cheering on from Germany and in Tucson. Prof. Chantelle Warner, Prof. Joela Jacobs, Prof. Janice McGregor, and Prof. Obenewaa Oduro-Opuni supported Richmond as his dissertation committee. In her role as committee chair, Prof. Warner moderated Richmond's presentation and invited questions during the public portion of the defense.
And there's even more reason to celebrate: We are proud to announce that Richmond Embeywa accepted a job offer from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He's going to start the post-doc position in June and we wish him all the best for his career! Herzlichen Glückwunsch, Richmond, we will miss you at our department which you shaped with your kind, collegial, and passionate nature.
