Looking back at my undergraduate career, achieving my B.A. in German Studies was one of my proudest accomplishments. It not only brought me closer to family, allowing me to communicate in German, but also unintentionally prepared me for my next step in life. After graduating from the University of Arizona with my B.A. in German Studies and B.A. in Psychology, I pursued my M.A. in Counseling. During my graduate program, we explored the significance language, nationality, and culture has on one’s varying health disparities. Additionally, we discussed how they play a role in establishing and developing a therapeutic relationship. What I learned working towards my B.A. in German Studies has helped guide me throughout my career, allowing me to incorporate person-centered and culturally competent interventions in my clinical practice.
In addition to serving as the Clinical Supervisor - Substance Use Services at MHC Healthcare, I am also the Founder & Primary Therapist at BrighterView Counseling, LLC.
