Dhruv Sharma is a doctoral candidate who has been pursuing German language for almost a decade. After completing an MA in Journalism from the University of Vienna and an MA in German Literature from Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, he worked at the Academic Evaluation Centre (APS India) within the Science Section of the German Embassy in New Delhi as a Document Verification Officer and was also responsible for public communication. He initially started his career as a German teacher at schools and taught German language for two and a half years.
Art and literature experienced in Vienna have led him to this doctorate. Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s dedication to art, Dhruv decided to dedicate his lifetime to German literature. His research areas are grotesque, madness, and sexuality. His doctoral research focuses on the depiction of madness through grotesque in Oskar Panizza’s writings, and his master’s thesis examined death and sexuality in the writings of Arthur Schnitzler. Apart from this, he enjoys poetry, and his four poems were published in an online magazine called The Punch.
