Emma is a doctoral student in the PhD Program in Transcultural German Studies. She earned a B.A. in German Language and Literatures (major) and English Language and Literatures (minor) at Leipzig University. Her bachelor’s thesis focused on the depiction of mermaids and sirens in the poems by Joseph von Eichendorff while concentrating on the categories gender and religion. Emma also acquired her M.A. in German Language and Literatures at Leipzig University. In her Master's thesis, she examined acculturation strategies in 19th-century literature and paid attention to the categories nation, religion and gender. Her research interests include topics like gender, identity, religion, postcolonialism, and the literature of the 19th century. From 2021 to 2023, she also worked in the news archive of MDR (Central German Broadcasting).
