Lea is a doctoral student in Transcultural German Studies (University of Arizona) and German Philology (University of Cologne, Germany). She acquired her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees as well as her first state examination in German and English Studies at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Her research interests include narratives of illness, inclusion, and politics and ethics in contemporary children's and young adult literature. Following her research interests, her dissertation topic looks at the depiction of depression and suicide in Germanophone and Anglophone young adult literature. She is part of the book review team at KinderundJugendmedien.de.

Currently Teaching

GER 202 – Intermediate German II

Topic-based practice of communication skills in German (listening, reading, speaking, writing), systematic review of German grammar (fourth semester).
