Wojtek Gornicki is a PhD candidate in his final year in the German Studies program. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Missouri, where he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, teaching beginner and intermediate German classes. He also studied in Poland and Germany. In 2017, he completed a bachelor's degree at the University of Wroclaw. In 2016-17, he spent a semester as an exchange student at the Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt am Main, and in the 2020-21 academic year, he studied at the Universität Leipzig as part of the Dual Degree program.

During his time at the University of Arizona, he gained extensive experience as a language instructor and teaching assistant in General Education courses. He taught a wide range of courses in various modalities, including in the Leipzig Study Abroad program (2022 and 2023), on the U of A campus, and online. His primary academic interests include applied linguistics and second/third language acquisition. His dissertation examines lexical development in multilingual speakers during a study abroad program.

He was a Max Kade fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year. From August 2022 to May 2024, he served as the Assistant Language Program Director in the Department of German Studies. In this role, he contributed to the development of online classes, among other responsibilities.

In his free time, he enjoys learning languages, playing chess, traveling, and going to the gym.
